One thing to note is that the 30 minute wait time is for untreated, non-turbid water. We recommend pre-filtering turbid water before using Aquatabs. 

How Do Water Purification Tablets Work?

So, you drop an Aquatabs tablet into untreated water and it becomes treated – but how? 

The simple answer: sodium dichloroisocyanurate.

Ok, maybe not so simple – let’s break it down. Sodium dichloroisocyanurate, or, NaDCC, is a chemical disinfectant similar to chlorine. Aquatabs release a steady dose of NaDCC into your water, which kills pathogens without impacting taste. 

What’s important to note is that NaDCC is not bleach. In fact, it is recommended as a more stable, accurate, and sustainable alternative.
